Automobile Insurance

The state of Washington requires you as a Seattle resident to have auto insurance including Bodily Injury Liability and Property Damage Liability for every vehicle that you own and drive in Washington.  Your liability insurance coverage protects other drivers on the road as well as their property from the costs they will incur in the event that you cause damage with your vehicle to their vehicles.

Most people are glad that the state of Washington requires drivers to carry liability insurance on the cars that they drive and you should be glad too because if someone damages your vehicle you would have no recourse to get them to pay for the repair of the damages to your vehicle if the state did not require that person to carry liability insurance.  Because insurance is mandatory for vehicles in Seattle, you have a level of security when you drive knowing that there is some way for you to recover costs for medical bills and automobile damages that other people cause.

If you have other types of auto insurance coverage, such as Personal Injury Protection, Uninsured Motorist, Collision and Comprehension, you will also have the security of knowing that your costs for repair of damages, bodily injury, and replacement will also be recoverable even if someone else's insurance does not cover your loss.  These other types of coverage are not required for you to have if you drive in Seattle, but they are often worthwhile types of coverage to have.

You will also be glad that you have auto insurance whether it is insurance that the state requires you to have or if it is insurance that you choose to have for your personal protection.  If you are involved in a hit-and-run accident where the party at fault leaves the scene of the accident without giving you insurance information, Personal Injury Protection and Uninsured Motorist would both be great types of insurance to have.  If you have Personal Injury Protection, you can get your medical bills covered immediately and if you have Uninsured Motorist, your policy will pay for the damages that the hit-and-run driver caused.  Of course, if the driver is not a hit-and-run driver but simply an uninsured or underinsured driver, your Uninsured Motorist policy will also cover your property damage expenses.

If you have Collision coverage and you are involved in an accident that is your own fault, the Collision will cover the damages to your car.  If you have Comprehension coverage and a natural disaster damages your car or if someone steals your car, your Comprehension will cover your damages or loss.

Automobile accidents occur frequently and automobile insurance is the only sure way to protect against them.
